Do I need any acting experience?
Absolutely not. The mysteries are intended and written for the average Jane or Joe. In fact, the people most nervous about their 'performance' often end up having the most fun.
What experience does the author/host have?
All parties are hosted by the author himself. He has been hosting murder mystery parties for over eight years using his original works exclusively since 2001.
What is included in my party package?
Each mystery is an original work which includes an introduction to the setting and characters, individual character manuals to guide each guest from start to finish, and each participant will receive individual character backgrounds prior to the party along with his/her costume suggestions.
Are costumes provided/required?
Costumes are not required but can add a lot to your party. We have costumes pieces for each character along with accessories and props.
They usually run about 3 hours, but you'll want to plan on 4 hours from the time your guests arrive.
Are there breaks during the party?
Yes. Each mystery is set up with 4-5 acts. This way everyone can refill refreshments, make phone calls, etc. without missing any of the party.
The standard rate is $25 per participant for parties in the greater Chicagoland area. One half is required to reserve the date (nonrefundable), the remainder due upon the host's arrival. Cash, check, or money order only please. Ask about a discounted rate during the summer season.
What if I don't live in the Chicagoland area?
We are available for parties virtually anywhere. While $25 per participant is the rate regardless of location, there may be an additional charge for travel. This fee varies, mostly depending on your location, but is often less than one would expect. To get a travel quote, simply e-mail us your location and desired date.
